First day of 2014 and it's WIP-it Wednesday...

Last night's dinner was a collection of pre-made hors d'oeuvres that I just had to bake in the oven.  Very simple, but very filling. We toasted the new year with champagne and fresh raspberries. We texted the Daughter who is in LA for the Rose Bowl and watched the fireworks on TV for a bit. It was a laid-back celebration, just the kind we like.

I finished knitting The Night is Purple and Full of Stars (aka Southern Skies) shawl [Ravelry] around 5:30pm. I knew there was no way I could block it last night, but I'm declaring it done anyway.  I'll block it today. Here it is in its unblocked state:
