Christmas gifts revealed...

In previous posts, I mentioned that I had crafted some gifts for a friend, Now that she has received them, I can finally show pictures of them.

Here's part one of her gift: a Christmas pillow I made using a Pine Mountain Designs kit.

I love their kits -- they always look great when they're finished. I love the fabrics and finishing that they use.

Here's part two: a cowboy Santa ornament.

Cowboy SantaI used one of my favorite patterns for the ornament. It was originally in Southwest Crafts, a magazine that was only around for a year or so (1989-1990). I love the cowboy boots and hat! I used a strip of leather as the hanger and treated the raw edges of the fabric with a touch of fabric glue so they wouldn't unravel.

I enjoyed doing these two cross stitch projects. Maybe it's time to add a cross stitch project to my rotation. We'll see...

Yesterday, I took some time to visit my local yarn shop, Purlescence. I picked up a copy of Victorian Lace Today, some more Socks That Rock (Downpour, Rocktober, Love-in-Idleness), and some Rowan Calmer in chocolate brown to make Twinkletoes from the current issue of Knitty.

I started on Twinkletoes and then spent a little time working on my Sangria shawl and on the second flip-top mitten for my daughter. It was a very relaxing day. I could use a few more of those!

They came out great! :) I love the Pine Mountain Pillow kits. The stockings design one is so cute too.

Eye Candy Friday...

...and another week races by! We have a few blooming things in the garden. This Icelandic Poppy is on the ledge outside the kitchen window: We have some bright yellow calendulas filling a container in the back yard: and these unusual pink flowers are in another contains. Don't ask me what they are...I have no idea: Up this weekend: We're taking a shopping trip to one of my favorite stores, The Container Store . I have placed an online order for some of the items I'll need for my December baking spree. I planned to go by myself to pick it up, but The Husband wants to look for small jars to repackage the olives he's brineing. We don't shop together, so this is a nice outing for the two of us. Don't tell The Husband, but we will also be going to Williams-Sonoma, which is in the same shopping center. I need to buy the dry brine and the gravy base for Thanksgiving. I always make a special trip for this, so if I can do it on the same shopping run, s...

It's my 5th Blogiversary...let's have a contest!

Yeah, who knew I'd still be doing this five years later? There have been a few changes since my first post . I'm no longer just a stitcher and quilter. I've added knitter, spinner, and weaver to the list. I also dabble in macro photography I changed the name of the blog to be more "me." I changed the layout. I have more than one reader. (Don't burst my bubble, please. LOL!) I've settled into a MWF schedule of posting, except when life and work get in the way. I still find the blog a useful journal of the projects I have in process and my mindset at the time I'm working on them. A little personal stuff gets thrown in from time to time. So, for now, blogging is still working for me. If you've been reading all along...thanks for joining me on this little journey! I plan on continuing as long as it is still useful for me.
