Top-of-the-waves Tuesday...
...and happy birthday to me!
I'm working a half-day today to give me a little extra time in the studio. Even though I was in the studio a good deal over the long weekend, I never get enough! Here's a recap of what I accomplished during the 3.5 days of my weekend.

I'm working a half-day today to give me a little extra time in the studio. Even though I was in the studio a good deal over the long weekend, I never get enough! Here's a recap of what I accomplished during the 3.5 days of my weekend.
- As I'd planned, I got the kitchen floor mopped and got rid of the last few Tica paw prints. :( I ran both kitchen rugs through the wash and it's looking much better.
- Also as planned, I vacuumed the bedroom carpet. I didn't get to the living and dining rugs as Sombra was so upset about the vacuum monster, I didn't have the heart to keep running, The Husband had done those rugs not long ago, so they can hold for a few more days.
- I finished weaving the Rosewood Wrap (Ravelry. I wanted to do twisted fringe, but after doing a few, I didn't like how it looked. I ended up with a simple fringe - knot at the top and then everything loose. I need to take photos.
- I folded up the rigid heddle loom for now and stored the stand under my work table. I moved a couple of things around to free up the space for weaving at the big loom.
- I spent a few hours trying to come back up to speed with the Baby Wolf. I'd totally forgotten how to read the weaving draft diagrams so I had to get familiar with that again. I made a few mistakes by not changing the tie-ups for some of the twills, but I at least recognized that they were errors. It is a practice piece after all...
I'd planned on ending the piece when I ran out of yarn on the shuttle, but I was enjoying the action of weaving, so I started weaving with a partially full bobbin of thinner cotton. It was a little too thin, so I switched over to a left-over bobbin from the Rosewood Wrap. That was an interesting change...the yarn is a bit thicker and shows the pattern differently. I played around with a two more cottons.
I guess I'm not ready to take this off of the loom yet. I know I have a couple more partially filled bobbins in the studio somewhere... - I sewed a couple of quilt squares and redid 3 more. I was unhappy with the placement of two of the featured fabrics and I found a better feature fabric for the third. I have an order in for two more feature fabrics. Unless I think of any more items to include, I think I'm done. It's time to start arranging the squares!
- Since I had the sewing machine out, I finally decided to make a cover for the cushion on my sewing chair. I found a piece of fabric in my stash that had the right shades of blue to go with the chair and whipped up a cover. It's not my best work, but it beats having an ugly foam piece to sit on!
- I needed to process some family news, and the easiest way for me to think about things is to spin. I've basically had a month off of spinning - it was time to get back to the wheel. I started spinning Carnival, a camel-silk from Greenwood Fiberworks [Ravelry]. I've spun the singles for 3 of the 4 ounces in the bump.
- During the last Craft Coffee, I found an error in a previous row. I marked it to make it easy to find later. I decided it was later enough, so I fixed the error and continued knitting the piece. I finished contrast color #4 and need to add 2 rows of the main color before I can start on contrast color #5. I'm so ready to be done with this piece and I'm that much closer to the end!
- I volunteered to knit hats for the homeless through a group I found on Nextdoor. I need to pull some yarn from the stash and get moving on that project.
