Top-of-the-Waves Tuesday...

...and the weekend report.
  • With so many different things happening in our lives, I felt the need for a little calm and a lot of zen. Spinning is the best way for me to do that. I grabbed a braid of Greenwood Fiberworks sparkle roving. I started spinning Bountiful [Ravelry]  on Friday and finished plying it on Sunday. Yeah, I needed a lot of zen.

  • I have a routine phone call to my mother on Saturdays. Usually, we talk for about 20 minutes. This week we talked for an hour. Part of it was catching up with family stuff, but the other part was to tell her about the Ancestry.com DNA results I received for her. She's very interested to find out where her ancestors came from. It was fun going over the results with her. I can't wait to see what her 23andme results show.

  • I'm still cleaning up little dribs and drabs of things that Tica left behind. I found a few more of her paw prints on the arm of the sofa that I needed to clean up. Sigh. We miss her fuzzy face.

  • I spent quite a bit of time going through my Handwoven magazines, looking at various projects. I was trying to find the next thing to weave on the Baby Wolf and I think I've found it. There is an Advancing Point Twill scarf that's very pretty, and I found it in a free download from Interweave. I really don't wear scarves very often and I'd rather have a shawl. I need to figure out how to make the draft wider. I may have to break down and buy iWeaveit for my iPad so I can plot it out.

  • I did a few chores, including running to the grocery store. Because things have been so stressful for us both, I made meatloaf and scalloped potatoes for dinner on Sunday. We all need comfort food every once in a while!
