Day after Christmas...
...and it's my day to chill out. I catch up on Christmas movies I didn't get to watch and do a little crafting. I'm a little tired, which is pretty normal after the activity of the last week.
Thursday 12/20
I finished decorating the house - the Christmas tree, the Star Trek tree, and my village. I had to replace the light strand that I hang above the stockings - it had died. That meant a quick trip to Rite Aid. While I was out, I swung by the quilt store to get some coordinating fabric for my MIL's quilt.
Friday 12/21
I needed 23-24 goodies bags. I settled on a total of 25 - we always seem to need an extra one.
I sorted and packed the cookies. I'll have to repack the ones to be mailed, but that will happen after Christmas.
Then, I sorted
and packed the biscotti.
In between, I managed a trip to Target ad Trader Joe's for some stocking stuffers and a couple of things I needed for Saturday.
Saturday 12/22
I packed the Amaretto-Cinnamon nuts
and the Grand Marnier nuts.
I made the Chile-Lime nuts and let them cool before packing them.
I wrapped all of my Christmas presents and started the kitchen clean-up. I also managed to get the majority of the laundry done.
Sunday 12/23
It was a very productive day.
First thing in the morning, I did my grocery run. In addition to my normal weekly shopping, I needed the ingredients for our Christmas Eve cioppino. The Husband buys the shellfish on Christmas Eve so it's fresh, but I buy the rest of the ingredients the day before. This way I avoid all of the last minute grocery shoppers.
When I got home, I pulled the fruitcakes and pumpkin breads out of the freezer. When they are defrosted, I'll pack them into cellophane when they are completely defrosted.
Then I packed the chocolate bark and Macadamia-Lime fudge.
The vacuum monster and I took care of the carpets and I mopped the floors.
Monday 12/24
With the majority of the cleaning done, I only had a few things to finish up. I packaged the cakes that were going to local recipients and then relaxed a bit.
The Daughter arrived, bring the ingredients I needed for our dessert. She's on a special diet so I wanted to use the coconut sugar and butter substitute that she is allowed to have. I made an apricot tart with the last of our frozen Blenheim apricots.
We had a yummy dinner of cioppino, salad, and bread, followed by the apricot dessert. It was great to spend time together, just the three of us. Given all that's happened this year, it was nice to have a mellow evening.
Just before I went to bed, I filled our stockings and turned out the lights.
Tuesday 12/25
The cat and I woke up early and enjoyed the peaceful quiet for an hour. When The Husband woke up, I made coffee and we enjoyed some time together.
We all opened our gifts before leaving to make a quick visit to my mother-in-law. The Husband had printed some photos of the grand-kids and framed them for her.
After our visit, we hung out at home until it was time for The Daughter to head home. It was low-key, but perfect.
