Canto de Sirena Shawl, as of 10/28/2015

I put the Canto de Sirena shawl [Ravelry] on a time-out in 2016. At the time, I was having issues with the yarn-overs slipping to the incorrect side of the stitch markers and having to re-do rows. However, after having so many problems with the Mother of Dragons shawl [Ravelry], I was ready to revisit this project.

I worked on it a bit over the weekend and then took it to Craft Coffee last night. So far, so good. The only issue I have is that the yarn-overs are making very large open areas in the pattern and they don't look attractive. I'm working on row 7 of the pattern, so I might just pull out the 6.5 rows of the pattern knitting and start the pattern again. The focus will be on making better-sized openings. I might also consider putting the markers in a different position (maybe after the K2tog/P2tog in the pattern) to help manage the pattern.

Mother of Dragons shawl [Ravelry] is going on hiatus for now. I'm seriously considering completely frogging it and using the yarn in a different project.

My 7th Blogiversary...

...technically it was Saturday, but I don't often post on the weekends.  I'm usually too busy running errands and trying to get in some quality crafting time. Before I dive into the weekend report, here's a late entry in the Christmas cookie display. I had to wait until these cookies arrived at their final destination before I could show them. Yes, they are for the same couple for whom I made the marzipan bees! I need a little practice decorating the bees, but I think they turned out OK. Moving on... I was essentially housebound on Saturday while I waited for a delivery (which never came!). I took advantage of the time deconstruct Christmas. I packed 95% of the Christmas decorations and put them back into the storage closet. The remaining 5% are the chile pepper lights and garland that hang from the loft railing. After going up and down the stairs multiple times to get the boxes for the decorations and then put them away, I just couldn't face going up the stair...

It's my 5th Blogiversary...let's have a contest!

Yeah, who knew I'd still be doing this five years later? There have been a few changes since my first post . I'm no longer just a stitcher and quilter. I've added knitter, spinner, and weaver to the list. I also dabble in macro photography I changed the name of the blog to be more "me." I changed the layout. I have more than one reader. (Don't burst my bubble, please. LOL!) I've settled into a MWF schedule of posting, except when life and work get in the way. I still find the blog a useful journal of the projects I have in process and my mindset at the time I'm working on them. A little personal stuff gets thrown in from time to time. So, for now, blogging is still working for me. If you've been reading all along...thanks for joining me on this little journey! I plan on continuing as long as it is still useful for me.
