Random Tuesday...
...it seems like I spend most of my days not doing crafts.
The only crafts I worked on consistently was the fiber that I started at Spin-In on Saturday. No photo yet.
In the category of mundane, household maintenance: The Husband replaced the toilet in the main bathroom. That sounds pretty straight-forward, doesn't it? It wasn't. Our bathrooms are both very small, so it's difficult to replace a toilet, both because of lack of space and because of the length limitations of the space. I couldn't help much, but did so whenever he asked. He finally finished everything yesterday.
I seem to keep organizing my space. I've never been happy with the way my unspun fibers are stored. I had to use space bags when I was in the small bedroom. I kept that method when I moved into my studio. It worked OK because the bags were stored under a counter with rolling organized cubes in front of them.
Now that the counter is part of my computer workspace and holds my laser printer, I had to move the fiber so I can get closer to the counter. I stuck it between the armoire and a wall, which made it visible. The space bags don't stack well and before long were falling down to the floor.
I found some plastic storage drawers at Target and stacked them next to the armoire. I went through all of the fiber and made sure that they were sealed in zip lock bags before placing them in the drawers. I also went through all of my batting remnants and refolded them. I found space for the batting underneath the counter, out of the way. I'm a lot happier now.
I also spent some time going through things stored under my worktable and in the armoire. I didn't actually get rid of anything, but instead found better places for the items.
I was also unhappy about the storage of tall items, such as lacing wires, scroll bars, and plastic mesh fabric. I found a round fabric tub at Michael's on Christmas clearance. It's white with Ho Ho Ho in red on the outside and red rope handles. I removed the handles and sewed a slipcover out of teal fabric. You can see it in front of the fiber storage drawers in the above photo.
There's still a lot to do, but it's gradually coming together.
