My Stitches West 2020 report...
...the short story is that I did not buy as much as previous years.
I attended three of the four days, I skipped Sunday. I had a great time and met a lot of very nice people!
Thursday:
Picked up my registration; knitted and chatted with several new friends; met an old friend for drinks; and attended the market preview.
One thing I wanted to do was talk to the people at the Calpaca booth. My brother-in-law and hie wife gifted me with two alpaca fleeces. Since I have no idea how to deal with raw alpaca fleece, I asked them lots of questions. Both people n the booth have experience spinning raw alpaca fiber and made many great suggestions. I feel like I have a plan now.
Friday:
I did some shopping in the morning and spent a couple of hours knitting before my Macro Yubinuki class at 2pm. The class was very challenging and I really need to practice to get the hang of the technique. It was only a 3 hour class and I think a longer class might have been better. This is what I managed to do in the class:
Saturday:
In going through some of my stash, I realized that I only bought two of the four skeins of yarn I needed for a shawl project that I bought from Stunning String Studio last year. Since the vendor was at Stitches West, I decided to get the two skeins I needed and to check out some of their shawl pins. I got a few things at their booth. I stopped at a few booths that displayed cardigan samples and looked at the patterns. The people in the Blue Bee Studio booth were especially helpful and I came away with information about two of their patterns.
Sunday:
I didn't go to market. Instead, I took photos of my purchases and created my collage.
Row 1: Cider House (Merino-Silk-Cashmere), Mallard (Merino-Camel-Silk), Twilight (Merino-Silk-Cashmere), Sandpiper (Camel-Silk) - all from Greenwood Fiberworks
Row 2: Badge; needles, stitch markers, shawl pin, and tools from Stunning String Studio
Row 3: Shirts and patch from knitbaahpurl; Space Collection yarns from Destination Yarn; pin from Greenwood Fiberworks; Twisted Haze kit from Stunning String Studio; Firebird Yarns grab bag yarn and pin
Row 4: Malabrigo sock yarn; Wickedly Bewitching Pocket Bat Knitting kit; LoLo Bar in Pink Grapefruit; Knitter's Pride circular needles; Llama socks
