WIP-it Wednesday...
...and I've been bouncing between projects all week.
Yesterday was a fix-it day.
WIPs Roll Call
Worked On:
Yesterday was a fix-it day.
- Spinning Wheel: After letting the glue dry on the connector for a day, I unfolded the wheel and screwed in the holding knob. I replaced the tension knob on the plying head, replacing the brake string at the same time.
- Sewing Machine: for the last couple of weeks, it's been displaying a replace battery message. Since I didn't even know it had batteries, I had to research where they were located and if I needed any special replacement batteries. The good news is that it just needed 2 AA batteries. The bad news was that one of the batteries leaked a little. I had to clean the battery compartment and cover to remove some dried battery gunk. Fortunately, it did not affect the battery contacts.
After replacing the batteries, I used canned air and a brush to remove some lint from the machine. - Alto's QuiltCut 1: On of the plastic holders broke a couple of months ago. I glued it back together and it worked fine for while. Well, it broke again yesterday. I reglued it and am giving it a couple of days to set.
If this doesn't work, I'll need to make a decision whether or not to replace it. I like the system because it's easier to cut consistent-width strips that a regular mat. A replacement QuiltCut will cost $200.00, so I need to make sure that I truly need it. If I do, Pacific International Quilt Festival is in October and there might be a show special for it. We'll see how much I miss it!
WIPs Roll Call
Worked On:
- Look Through My Window quilt for me (quilting)
Replaced the fabric for two squares and added some lettering to two other squares. I also rearranged some of the squares. I still haven't found a layout that I love, so I'll keep rearranging. - Pure Comfort Cardigan [Ravelry]
Finished the increases, placed the sleeve stitches on holder, and am knitting away on the body. I'm really enjoying this project! - Saratoga Calypso Shawl (knitting) [Ravelry]
This shawl continues to be a big pain. The lace is giving me conniptions. I get to row 8 and it all goes wrong. I pulled out everything back to the cast-on. I'm giving it one more chance - if this one fails, I'm using the yarn for something else.
- Be My Baby for My Baby (knitting) [Ravelry]
- Earthdancer (cross stitch)
- Finishing work for some old crewel pictures (sewing)
- Malachite (needlepoint)
- Valley of the Heart's Delight sampler design (cross stitch)
