Top-of-the-Waves Tuesday...
...and the weekend report.
We did a little shopping to improve the "guest" room. It's really The Husband's room...enough said. LOL!
My mother gets cold easily and the room does not have any carpet. I bought a fluffy area rug to be placed next to the bed for her feet. The room has a sliding glass door that leads to the courtyard. While it is a double-paned window, it still gets quite chilly by the window. When it was the Daughter's room, I installed already a double curtain rod and hung one set of curtain panels on the outside rod and a pair of sheer panels on the inside. I swapped out the sheers for blackout drapes that will help keep the cold out.
We also dug out of some of the blankets we had stored away in various places. The good news is that the bed already has an electric blanket, which will keep her warm while she sleeps.
The Husband was not happy with the lighting in the room and will be replacing the old track lighting with a pendant light (thanks, Ikea!) that will hang over his desk.
In between laundry, shopping trips, and errands, I spent time in the studio. I bounced between my mermaid quilt, spinning, and weaving.
The mermaid quilt is coming along, but I'm at the tedious part of the quilting. The panel has lots of words and small motifs that are a challenge to sew. I can only work on them for a couple of hours before I need a break.
I started spinning Deep Purple [Ravelry] November 10th and it's been a slog since the beginning. I decided to spin it a little thicker, trying to get away from thinner yarns. My goal was to use it in a weaving of some sort. It's a Merino-Yak-Silk. I've spun a blend like this before, but not from this vendor. I originally split it length-wise into 4 pieces, but was finding it difficult to draft evenly. I finally split the pieces one more time length-wise. This made it more manageable, but it's still hard to draft evenly. I think the 3 fibers are not as blended as the previous ones I've spun. Oh well, it will get done eventually. I only have one more section to spin.
I managed to get past the 4-foot mark on my Shimmering Points Wrap [Ravelry]. I wove two complete patterns. So far (knock on wood), I have not had another broken warp. I'm ready for this project to be done and warp a new, simpler project!
