When I first started quilting around motifs in a quilt, I regularly used invisible thread. It disappears into the square and highlights the motif with a little shine. As time goes on, I use it less and less because it's a pain in the a$$. It bunches up/knots if you look at it cross-eyed and it's hard to see to thread a needle when I'm burying the ends. I'm much happier if I can use a cotton thread close to the background color. I just need to remember that for the next quilt!
